This will be the first year that Main Street Stone Mountain hosts Gospel Fest. Come join us on March 27th for what is sure to become an annual event! The event is set to begin at 3 pm, just after the Stone Mountain Baptist Church finishes their annual Easter egg hunt on the Pavillion lawn. Six acts including soloists and larger groups and choirs will perform gospel songs for the crowd and Main Street Stone Mountain will have light snacks, hot chocolate, coffee, sodas and water available. The event should last until 6pm, so stop by and join us for the sounds of Gospel Fest!!
The following are short bios on the acts set to perform. FEAC from For Eternity Christian Church: FEAC is the For Eternity Adult Choir from For Eternity Christian Church in Stone Mountain, which will celebrated its 9th anniversary on March 21st. The church is led by senior pastor LaMar Willaims. The choir was founded in 2001 with 8 members and has since grown to 24 members. They have been invited to several Atlanta-area churches to sing both contemporary and traditional gospel songs as well as some of their own original work. The choir has a sub-group, 3CM, that sings more contemporary music and is in the process of recording; their music includes gospel rap and other contemporary original music. The co-minister of music is co-pastor Demetra Williams and the musician/composer is Wayne Z. Cooper. Michael Harden: Michael is an associate minister for the First Norman Grove Baptist Church in Scottdale. He is a singer and songwriter and is currently working on his second CD. He says he loves God and God’s people. New Day Trio: The New Day Trio is based in Gainesville, GA . The group is composed of Tadd Shadburn, Vanessa Cox and Patrick Hess. Tadd, nicknamed Tadpole, is one of nine children of a Baptist preacher. He enjoys boating, fishing, horseback riding and gardening. Vanessa is a single mother of two and has been singing gospel music all her life. She says “It’s a joy singing for the Lord!” Patrick is originally from Buckhannon, West Virginia but has moved to Gainesville. He enjoys hunting, fishing, camping and playing the piano. Qasim “Q” Coleman: Q is a member of Berean Christian Church in Lithonia. He was born and raised in Newark NJ. His father was a musician so he learned to play several instruments as a child. In New Jersey, he and some neighborhood friends formed a group called the Four Seasons and after college, when Q moved to Atlanta, he signed on with Warlock Records as part of the Atlanta-based group E’Lan . After E’lan split up, Q began his solo career as a writer, composer, singer producer and arranger. His first solo CD, entitled “Better Late Than Never”, includes a mix of jazz, pop, and R&B, that reflects his sense of fundamental hope, enlightenment and joy. Voices of Faith: Voices of Faith is the gospel choir from Pillars of Faith Christian Church in Stone Mountain. Pillars of Faith Church was started in 2007 and since its inception, the church has been “prosperous and blessed by God”. The senior pastor of Pillars of Faith Church is James E. Reed. Members include Minister Kimberly Woods, Mary Boyde, Charles Spotts, Tyndal Jones-Spotts, Cash King, Tracey Williams, Jehiah Cundiff and Ken Brooks. & One More Special Guest!

In 1822 the area that now makes up the City of Stone Mountain was made a part of the newly formed Dekalb County. A post office was created in 1834 .

By 1839 a general store was added and a village was established under the name New Gibraltar. The name was officially changed to Stone Mountain by the Georgia legislature in 1847.

Today Stone Mountain is a sprawling City of great creativity with continuing projects to improve and inspire growth and prosperity. Stone Mountain City, a City of Vision!
