Held the second Saturday in May each year from 4 pm to 9 pm, our Mozart for Motorheads is a fun event everyone is sure to enjoy.  The event is held on the Pavillion lawn just behind Main Street and is free to the public.  The event begins with a car show where visitors get a chance to see a variety of antique cars up close and personal and then vote for their favorite car.  There is also a chance for the car owners to pick their favorite car in the show.  The evening ends with a live performance by the Atlanta Philharmonic Orchestra.  Families bring out picinic baskets and sit under the night sky while enjoying the live music and the sights of Stone Mountain Village.

In 1822 the area that now makes up the City of Stone Mountain was made a part of the newly formed Dekalb County. A post office was created in 1834 .

By 1839 a general store was added and a village was established under the name New Gibraltar. The name was officially changed to Stone Mountain by the Georgia legislature in 1847.

Today Stone Mountain is a sprawling City of great creativity with continuing projects to improve and inspire growth and prosperity. Stone Mountain City, a City of Vision!
